Maskoutain Residential Sector Revitalisation Program
Types of construction eligible for the program:
- Single-family
- Duplexes
- Triplexes
- Multifamily constructions with 4 or more units
- Co-ownership units
What are the eligibility requirements?
- The construction work is eligible if the building permit for said work was issued during the eligibility period and the work is completed in compliance with the permit and City planning regulations;
- The minimum eligible amount for calculation of the tax credit is an evaluation of $50,000 to be generated by the construction work;
- The tax credit is automatically granted when these criteria are met (The homeowner is not required to submit a request).
How will the property tax credit be applied?
The applicable tax credit is equal to 100% of the building evaluation for a period of thirty-six months following the work completion date.
It is applicable on all general property taxes for the stipulated fiscal period, excluding local improvement taxes, compensations or taxes relating to services as well as all other special taxes imposed upon evaluation.
Though this may mean that new homeowners will not see their tax accounts completely eliminated (as they must assume payment for compensations relating to services as well as the portion of taxes applicable on the value of the land), they are nonetheless eligible to receive substantial financial assistance.
